Unleash Hell...There. the six Roman scorpios are now done. I'm pretty happy with the final result, but I warn you, don't take those minis from Eureka:

- The scorpions are not that easy to glue

- most of the minis don't have kneecaps. Nope, their legs are sort of roundish

- some of the arms are stangely sculpted. with fingers going one way and ending another, very long wrists, almost as long as forearms...

Hmm, I seem to be rambling more and more about things. Am I becoming like Fran the Angry Lurker. F*** no, I'm not Irish :)

Voila, les six scorpions sont maintenant termines. L'aspect general est pas mal et j'en suis content, mais je deconseille vraiment Eureka pour ces references:

- les scorpions ne sont pas faciles a coller, ils tiennent pas...

- les figs n'ont pas de genoux, leurs jambes etant plutot rondes...

- clairement le sculpteur n'a pas ouvert de bouquin d'anatomie, car certaines mains sont etranges avec des doigts tres bizarres, et parfois des bras a trois articulations, ou des poignets treeeees longs... Bref, pas glop du tout, et ca merite d'etre signale.

 

Splitch, dab, splotch

I managed to get the artillery units almost done yesterday. All that's left is the skin highlight and basing. That should be done quite soon, I think.

Je vous l'avais bien dit. Cet ensemble de figs se peint tres vite, et il ne me reste plus qu'a faire l'eclaircissement de la chair et le soclage. Ce sera fait rapidement je pense.

Ahoy my arties... bad joke

ok, ok, I shouldn't have done it but I couldn't resist. I just started 6 bases of Roman artillery, from Eureka. It may not look like much, with only the brown and red base colours, but it took me quite some time just to glue the scorpios... I should do better tomorrow. 

Pour ceux qui comprennent un peu l'Anglais, j'ai fait un jeu de mot pourrave dans le titre. Voila. Tout ca pour vous montrer le debut de l'artillerie romaine de chez Eureka. Ca parait peu, mais j'ai passe beaucoup de temps a coller les scorpions. Je devrai donc bien avancer demain. A+ moussaillons ;)

Now. They're done. Though I like painting, Ididn't like tose minis from Eureka. They're either too smooth and hard to paint/highlight/wash, or they have too much details on some place, maiking it hard to know what the sculptor wanted to represent. Anyway, I'done with Eureka at the moment, and I've already prepped another unit. Oh and I'm also writing my batrep too. As you can see, I'm as busy as usual.



Rhhaaa. Ils sont finis. Pour etre honnete avec vous, je hais les figs Eureka. Soit elles sont trop lisses et on se demande comment on va faire pour peindre quelque chose de correct, soit elles sont hyperdetaillees a certains endroits, au point d'entre illisible. Bref, c'est pas un cadeau et je vous deconseille leur gamme antique. 

How long until we're dry?

Hey. I must say having finished one big project didn't affect my painting resolution. I'm still enjoying it, so I continue on my way to complete the Roman army. I just finished painting and varnishing the clibanarii, and have let them to dry during the night. As you can see, I tried to give the unit a bit of colour, yet the "Romans" are still uniformed. Tomorrow, they'll be sanded and flocked.

Je dois vous avouer que j'avais un peu peur de me demotiver apres la fin de mon projet chinois. Il n'en est rien pour le moment, et je continue donc tranquillement. Les clibanaires sont donc termines, et malgre leur aspect uniforme, j'ai essaye de mettre un peu de couleur. Sacres Romains. Demain, je m'occuperai de les baser correctement, car pour le moment, le vernis. A+

A quick dab of paint later....

Sorry fellows, not that much to show you today, simply because I was at the club yesterday evening, doing a Art de la guerre demo. A bat rep should follow soon. Anyway, I still managed to paint most of the base colours.

red in mechrite red, white in Dheneb stone, flesh in Tallarn flesh, and brown in Snakebite leather. Then I used some brown ink ( from Vallejo) to ink the Snakebite over the trousers, and on the brown horses. I know, it's not quite the technique I used on my Chinese horse, but that was the case for the Roman ones I had prevously done, so...

Pas de grand progres aujourd'hui car hier soir j'etais au club pour jouer a Art de la Guerre, batrep a suivre. du coup, j'ai quand meme passe quelques couleurs pour les bases: mechrite red, Dheneb Stone, snakebite leather. Et j'ai egalement passe une couche d'encre marron sur les pantalons et les cheaux marrons. Et voilo.

Romans or Sassanids?

Yes, this could be my brain thinking out loud about what my next army could be. But I can't be that stupid, I already have 2 projects for this year and a weakness coming ( French for CWC), so no that'll be all. In fact, I've now started painted a new unit for my friend Ludovic. Yes, I know, another one: I think he bought all the minis to get every possible option from the FOG army list... So now I'm supposed to have started som clibanarii. The problem is... he bought some Sassanids, and mot proper Roman clibanarii. Shame. The hard part comes from the horses' protection, which is here as smooth as possible. How can I reproduce a metallic armour then? Well, I used GW chanimail, followed by a highlitght in Silver. THe bronze parts were done in... Vallejo Bronze. Then generous wash in Badab Black, and I also added some black paint where needed ( hair, beard, horse mane...). I should start the detailling tomorrow. See ya.

Le titre du post pourrait etre la discussion agitant mon faible petit cerveau embrume, et hesitant sur ma future armee a peindre. Je ne peux cependant pas car j'ai suffisamment de projets pour l'annee, avec un krakage qui se profile de plus en plus... Bref. Non, il s'agit simplement de la nouvelle unite de l'armee romaine de Ludo, qui j'ai l'impression a pris de quoi faire toutes les options du livret d'armee FOG. Il s'agit pour moi de peindre des clibanaires, qui, tout le monde le sait, etaitent des cataphractes chez les Romains. Or mon bon Ludo a pris des clibanaires... sassanides. la difference? Le caparacon etait metallique chez les Romains, et en tissu rembourre chez les autres gus. Bref, je me suis bien pris la tete pour savoir comment rendre un aspect metallique suffisant. Du coup, j'ai tout peint en Chainmail puis eclaircissement argent, puis lavis de noir. Et j'en ai aussi profite pour faire les bronze et noir partout ou je le voulais. A demain pour la suite.

While searching for something to do...

Yesterday, while I was looking at my lead pile, I stumbled upon a blister of Numidian Skirmishers from Corvus Belli and a couple from Eureka. These minis belong to my friend Ludo, so I quickly painted them for him. The Eureka are very tall and slim. If you are interested, they're more in the 20mm range, and the alloy is very britle, so beware.

Tandis que je cherchais de quoi peindre dans ma colline de plomb, ben oui, je n'ai pas la place d'avoir une montagne, je suis tombe sur ces figs de chez Corvus et Eureka, representant des frondeurs, Numides et hellensitiques. Hop, je les ai peintes dans la foulee pour mon pote Ludo. Les figs Eureka sont pas mal, mais attention, elles sont tres grandes, plutot dans les 20mm, et sont fragiles, donc soyez prevenus.
