Oh my god, they're really coming... Quick your Highness, hide!
The Picardy infantry regiment is the oldest one in the French army. We hear first of the Bandes de Picardie in 1483. And in 1569, it became the first real regiment, 16 companies strong. In 1585, the regiment took the name of Picardy. Before that, it bore the name of it's colonel (common practice), and was ranked first in the army. So it belongs to the 6 Vieux infantry regiments. During the Thirty years war, it fought valiantly, and at Rocroi, it was on the right flank, covering the army.
In FOG-Renaissance, this unit is superior, and can be supported by a regimental gun, giving it a decent firepower. Besides, the French infantry is also rated as impact foot, to reflect on their tendency to attack despite all odds. I like the sound of it. So, minis are from Old Glory, excepted for the gun, and flags are from Flags of War ( excellent products there).
Et ca, ca me botte.
