62- The Brave Scots

Here are the only pictures of the 79th Cameron highlanders I painted for my friend. I 'm disappointed because you won't see the pipers, and the officer on his white horse... Bah, anyway, time has passed, and I must say I was really pleased with the Old Glory miniatures, and the odd Warmodelling figures, from time to time. For example, the standard bearers and drummer are from Warmodelling. This is the last time I bother you with Napoleonics, at least for a while, and now I can go on painting my other projects, when I've finished the Romans...

Ce seront les seules phots des Ecossais du 79e Cameron Highlanders que vous verrez, hélas. J'ai vraiment apprécié peindre ces Old Glory, même sir les tartans ne sont pas évidents. Seuls les figs de commandement sont de chez Warmodelling. Maintenant, je vais pouvoir passer à autre chose, continuer mes autres projets de peinture, et en commencer d'autres.

61- Sausage eating British... the KGL

Small detour through the Napoleonic wars to show you the whole unit of the KGL for my friend JB. it's a shame I took pictures in a hurry, because I forgot to take pictures for the whole army, and you won't see neither Wellington nor Picton. Shame on me. Anyway, here are the galant German troops in his Majesty's service.

Petit détour par la Belgique en 1815, avec ces valeureux représentants allemands au service de l'Angleterre. Les figs Old Glory sont vraiment agréables à peindre, tout du moins ces références là. Malheureusement, je n'ai pas pu prendre des photos de toutes l'armée anglo-alliée, donc vous ne verrez ni Wellington, ni Picton, c'est fort regrettable.

1st Life Guards -2- The End!

Hi everyone. Only a few days left before the final departure for London. And I'm still painting like a madman as soon as I get some spare time. So, I managed to finished the last part of the cavalry, from Old Glory, as usual.

Le moment du déménagement approche, et je vois les sirènes de Londres m'appeler, avec le doux chant mélodieux: "Wargame! Wargame!" Bref, je peins toujours comme un gros malade, et j'ai donc terminé la dernière unité de cavalerie anglaise. Yes!

1st Life Guards (1)

I've almost finished the third division for my friend. This time, it's the last cavalry unit. And, as you must have guessed from the title, they're the Life Guards. The painting was fast and easy because of the black horses and the "basic" colours. No fancy dress like the !@#** hussars.

Je m'apprête à terminer la dernière unité de la troisième division de JBB, les Life Guards. Les figs d'Old Glory sont sympas et rapides à peindre. De plus, c'est une unité pas trop prise de tête, avec des chevaux noirs et un uniforme plutôt classique, qui n'a rien à voir avec les féminineries des hussards. franchement, les hussards, rien que des tafioles, na!

Military advisor?

Another base of generals for Grande Armee. The minis are a mix from Old Glory, Warmodelling and Essex. Ok, you can sometimes see some shine but I ran out of varnish (darn). They're supposed to represent the allied division in my client's army.

Deuxième plaquette de généraux pour Grande Armée. Les figs sont un mix d'Old Glory, Warmodelling et Essex. Cette plaquette est censée représenter les généraux de la division d'alliés de l'armée de JBB.

Go tell them and you better hurry up!

No one can stop me! I'm on fire! My brushes are falling asleep on my bench because of too much work ^^ I finished the base of generals for the commission. 

Je suis à fond, là. Après les Guards, j'ai commencé les généraux, et j'ai donc terminé la première plaquette. Le reste va suivre bientôt.

There! I've just finished the Guards. As you can see, the Old Glory packaging wasn't that great, with only two firing poses. So I managed, eventhough I didn' t respect the initial commission. anyway, I feel this scene looks better. The skirmishers are from the 95th rifles, painted a few months ago.

As you can see, one of the riflemen has just seen what's coming...

Et voilà, les Guards sont terminés. Comme Old Glory ne mettait que 2 poses dans son blister, j'ai préféré charger la plaquette à fond, avec les rifles du 95e peints quelques mois plus tôt. Il ne me reste donc plus que 3 unités et les généraux à peindre.

The second line...

I won't be spending too much time blogging because I need time to paint the rest of the army, but i wanted to show what you'll see in a few days when the unit will be completed. Yes, the Guards are in firing line ^^

Je vais essayer de ne pas perdre trop de temps, car je dois encore peindre pas mal de trucs avant le déménagement. Je vous donne donc un avant goût de l'unité de Guards, prête à tirer.

The Guards coming in

Hi everyone. My trip to London is now over and my wife and I have found a really nice place in the heart of the capital city. Now I'm back and I'm painting rather frenetically because time is passing by very fast, and I still have a lot to do. Anyway, here is the first rank of the 1st Guards at Waterloo. Drummers and foot officers are from Warmodelling. the rest is... from Old glory.

Salut à tous. De retour de Londres, où ma femme et moi avons trouvé un charmant appart en plein coeur de la ville. Du coup, j'en profite maintenant pour peindre le plus possible avant ma vraie semaine de vacances et le déménagement. Et je vous présente donc la première ligne des Guards à Waterloo.

Some more Oranges?

I know it's a bad play on words, but before leaving for London, I finished painting the Orange-Nassau regiment. I also had time to sand the base. I must say I was badly surprised by this ref from Old Glory. Though they say it represents Nassau troups, we don't have any info about the blister composition. And in fact, we don't how many flank companies minis we'll get. And to add another downside, they're not that easy to spot when unprimed. It's only when undercoated that I saw the most part of them were from the flank companies... Damn! Fortunately, a good paint job helped me hide the details... Now time to go to bed, may plane is at 9. AM.

Juste avant de partir pour Londres, j'ai eu le temps de terminer le régiment Orange-Nassau. Je dois dire que je suis déçu du packaging Old Glory, car impossible de savoir combien il y a de figs des compagnies du flanc. Et bien sûr, c'est très dur à deviner quand elles ne sont pas sous-couchées. Ce n'est qu'après le bombage qu'on voit l'erreur, et dans mon cas, la majorité des figs sont des compagnies du flanc... Heureusement qu'une bonne peinture peut tout cacher ^^

WIP: Orange-Nassau

Not very motivated for the last few days. The reason is simple: I live in a flat, and many people have decided to do heavy work in theirs. So, for the past days, I'm forced to listen to the drills and the hammers... Anyway, I still manage to do some painting, and today I finished the first part of the Orange-Nassau regiment. 

 

 

 

Minis are, as always, from Old Glory, except for the command, which is... the French one from Warmodelling. In 15mm, and with a bit of paint, everything looks ok for game distance.

Pas super motivé en  ce moment, à cause de nombreux proprios dans mon immeuble qui ont décidé de faire des gros travaux. Bref, à part les bruits de marteaux et de perceuse... Toutefois, je réussis toujours à peindre un peu, et voici donc le première partie du régiment d'Orange-Nassau. La suite à venir très bientôt.

WIP2: Scots Greys

There. The Scots are now finished. All I have to do now is finish the basing before delivering them to their rightful owner. I'm quite pleased with the trumpeter and his white horse.

Voilà, les Scots Greys sont terminés. Il ne me reste plus qu'à terminer le soclage, et cela fera une unité supplémentaire à livrer au joyeux proprio.

The mighty, the pretty Greys...

After the hussars, I wanted to paint something simple. And the answer was... The 2nd Dragoons, Royal Scots Greys. Rather easy to paint, except for the grey horses... I wanted some variety so I managed with different shades of grey and washes...

Après ces foutus hussards, je voulais un truc "reposant". Je me suis donc tourné vers une unité mythique, mais assez simple à faire, les Scots Greys. J'ai essayé de faire de la variété dans les robes grises.

More Bloody hussars

Fortunately for me, I only had one unit of hussars (the 7th Queen's Own). I finished and based them  today. I know, you still see the sand on the base, but don't have any more Tan earth from Vallejo, so I'll have to wait until friday to get some. Anyway, here they are:

Heureusement que je n'avais qu'une unité de hussards à peindre, car franchement, je n'aime pas ça. Ils sont toutefois terminés, et il ne me reste plus qu'à finaliser le socle. Hélas je suis tombé à cours de peinture, donc on va attendre d'ici vendredi.

7th Hussars, Queen's Own

I'm still trying to paint frenzily to get this commission done, and today I finished the first part of the 7th British hussars. To be honnest, these fellows took me a while because of the details. And now I can say: I hate hussars!

Je continue à peindre comme un fou pour terminer cette armée, et voici donc la première partie du 7e rgt de hussards anglais. J'ai pas mal galéré à cause des détails, et pour tout vous dire, je crois que je déteste les hussards ^^

Dutch militia

Ok, now I'm on holidays for 2 months, and I intend to spent my free time wisely, ie painting of course. Though it took me some time to finish, the Dutch militia is now finished:

They're all from Old Glory, except from the command, from Warmodelling. I really like the officier with an umbrella. After all, Waterloo began with heavy rain, didn't it?

1st KGL Light Dragoons, the whole unit

Hi everyone. thanks to my friend Thierry who took the picture, I'm able to give you the whole 1st KGL light dragoons at Waterloo.

Though the pic is quite blurry, you still have an idea. Anyway, one more unit done, and i'm now onto the rest of the Dutch militia.

Hi everyone, it's been some days since my last post. I'm sorry about that, but you know how the real life can be a bitch sometimes ;) Anyway, I've almost finished a new cavalry unit, the 1st KGL Light Dragoon. 

Minis are from... Old GLory of course. Next, the rest of the unit, or the last batalion of Dutch militia.

Salut à tous. Après plusieurs jours sans poster, me revoici, avec un début de nouvelle unité 1er Empire, le 1er dragon léger de la KGL. Peinture rapide, mais toujours efficace. A suivre, soit le reste de la cavalerie, soit le dernier bataillon de milice hollandaise.
